If you are  interested in the topic of premature aging of the body you will have heard of the term “free radicals” and the benefits of antioxidants to fight them. Free radicals means unstable oxygen molecules that are “damaged” as a result of the impact of factors such as cigarette smoke, air pollution, ultraviolet rays pesticides, radiation, emotional stress, and as incredible as it sounds too much movement. Unstable molecules need one more electron to regain strength. So the damaged molecules literally bombard other molecules, leading to distortions of the healthy molecules. Why are free radicals so important and beneficial antioxidants … Because they “donate” the missing electron, thus making it stable and almost completely safe. The antioxidant “cocktail” typically includes beta-carotene, vitamins C and E, selenium, lycopene, coenzyme Q10 and lutein. Numerous studies have shown that antioxidants have specific characteristics which not only helps the body to neutralize free radicals, but also to get rid of them.

Beta Carotene

Beta-carotene  and other members of the carotenoid group – pass one vitamin A after entering the body). Vitamin C
It is considered proven that it reduces the risk of early onset of cataracts by up to 77% and 83% with whole cases of the disease between the ages of 56 and ’71 Such results have been reported in people taking a long period of time (over 10 years) at least 1 g vitamin C daily. Another study, published again in the Journal of the American Medical Association, linked the use of the same amount of vitamin C (along with vitamin E) with the body’s ability to block the negative effect of fat intake in the diet and passing into the blood circulation. The studies results are published in the newspaper The Lancet, states that taking to 500 mg vitamin C per day,for a month, lowers blood pressure.
Vitamin E
Its use is associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease – because of its ability to neutralize the oxidation of “bad” (LDL) cholesterol. It is this oxidation that causes the  piling of plates on the walls of blood vessels, leading to their narrowing – a major cause of atherosclerosis and heart attacks. The effect of vitamin E is associated with reduced problems in DNA structures. There is also some evidence that use of 400 IU vitamin E daily reduces the level of “bad” cholesterol. This vitamin is another answer to ‘what do antioxidants do for the body’?
This mineral is a structural component of the enzyme that protects glutathione (which is one of the main units of internal defense against free radicals). It works successfully in combination with vitamins C and E and beta-carotene. Some data suggests it reduces the risk of certain cancers (lung, rectum and colon, prostate).
